Marouane Fellaini becomes first Chinese Super League player to test positive for coronavirus

Former Man United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has tested positive for coronavirus, becoming the first Chinese Super League player to do so.

The Belgian has been with CSL club Shandong Luneng since January 2019, when he was sold off by United for not matching the structure Solskjaer wanted at the club.

Just days after China recorded zero coronavirus infections in Wuhan, Fellaini becomes the latest foreigner to be infected by the deadly virus.

No CSL player has tested positive for the virus ever since the league was suspended after the outbreak began in December.

The Belgian has been relatively successful in China, scoring 8 goals and assisted 3 in 22 league appearances for Shandong.

He made 177 appearances for United in his six-year stay, scoring 22 goals and often being recognized as a definitive ‘Plan B’ for managers beyond the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Tribuna.com wishes a speedy and healthy recovery for Fellaini and hopes he can get rid off this virus at the earliest.
