United's interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is likely to come to an end as the midfielder is allegedly close to singing a new deal at Lazio.
According to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, the 24-year-old is set for a massive pay rise and his contract will include a hefty €100 million+ release clause.
United have been heavily linked with a summer move for the Lazio star as Ole Gunanr Solskjaer was looking to strengthen his midfield following the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.
Reflecting on United's alleged interest last month, Milinkovic-Savic said: "The English transfer market is over, so the story about me moving to Manchester United is also over.
"I've never mentioned a possible move to United, it was only an article in a newspaper. I'm not worried about anything because I know there's time for an eventual transfer.
"I wasn't too nervous about everything that was written. I was focused on preparing for the coming season in the best possible way."
