Explained: why Klopp is in danger of touchline ban for final Liverpool game

Jurgen Klopp has to be extra careful over how he behaves in his final Premier League away game when Liverpool faces Aston Villa.

That is because the German manager is actually at danger of serving a touchline ban in his final Liverpool match against Wolves.

Klopp is currently sitting on two bookings in the 2023/24 Premier League season. The rules state that three bookings for a manager automatically result in a one-match suspension.

The German gaffer had gotten booked in matches against Luton Town and Burnley after seeing two Liverpool penalty shouts denied.

What makes things even trickier for Jurgen is that Simon Hooper is the referee assigned for the Aston Villa game. Klopp has quite the history with him, with Hooper being the official in the famous 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Klopp actually remarked on this threat in the pre-match press conference and vowed: “I've known for a long time. I only got two yellow cards! I've got calmer over the years. I don't need to be on the touchline but it would be cool. I will try absolutely eveything to be involved in conversations!”
