Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent feels that Liverpool should be looking to replace Mo Salah with Kylian Mbappe in the summer.
Speaking about the Frenchman’s quality and a possible move to Anfield, he told Talksport: “I still think he is the best player on the planet. I get it, in the knockout stages of the Champions League, his record isn’t great.
“But the biggest game on the planet is the World Cup final. The whole world is watching. He scored in both finals and in one of them he scored a hat-trick. I still think Mbappe is incredible. If he had two years left on his contract how much would Mbappe go for: “£150m+. I would pay that for him.
“If Salah went and he came in. Imagine you are trying to appease the Liverpool fans by going ‘listen, you are going to lose Salah, but Mbappe is coming’. I almost feel like that’s what they need and he is versatile. He can play down the middle. They have a number of attacking players down the club that are versatile.”
The reality, however, is that Liverpool are not ready to sell Salah in the summer and want him to stay on for at least another season. Mbappe is reportedly a fan of Liverpool, but he seems bound to join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
