Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot is the frontrunner to succeed Jurgen Klopp in charge of Liverpool this summer.
Some sources, mainly from Portugal, claimed that Liverpool's preferred option was Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.
However, according to Sky Sports, Amorim was never the leading candidate, even though he was among the coaches considered by the club.
The main reasons why Amorim is not ranked as high as Slot are his playing approach which involves playing with a back three and his long-term vision that does not fit the current squad or the club's philosophy across the age groups.
His public meeting with West Ham did not win over anyone at Liverpool, although Slot was already highlighted as a better fit by then.
The Dutchman is also viewed as a better communicator and, crucially, someone who is genuinely excited by the opportunity to coach at Anfield.
