Are Liverpool considering Darwin Nunez sale? David Ornstein answers

Darwin Nunez has disappointed Liverpool fans with his form in recent games, especially the Merseyside derby where he was virtually nowhere to be seen.

Following that match that extended his run to five games with a goal or assist, some pundits, including Jamie Carragher, claimed that Liverpool needed to improve on Nunez who was not good enough for a title challenge.

However, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, that does not sound likely now.

"I very much doubt Nunez will be leaving," Ornstein said in a Q&A session.

"Whatever you think of his form recently, he has shown himself to be a good player for club and country, he is still young.

"Liverpool wouldn’t make any/much profit from selling him now and there is clear potential, in my opinion, for him to have a successful career at Anfield.

"Now if suitable offers come in for pretty much any player it’s only natural that Edwards, Hughes and anyone else in their positions – and at board an ownership level – will consider them.

"But that doesn’t mean they will be accepted and there are no signs that dramatic revolution is on the way for Liverpool… more likely smart and necessary revolution."

Nunez has currently registered 18 goals and 12 assists across 50 games in all competitions this season.
