'As a player, it's hard to understand': Szoboszlai on missing out on League Cup final

Liverpool won the League Cup back in February. The Reds had a squad depleted by injuries and Dominik Szoboszlai was one of the absences in the final.

The Hungarian was close to returning to contention but didn't make it against Chelsea. He's reflected on the experience of missing out on the final.

"It's not easy, you see every player who got injured we have to build up ourselves in the games as well. It's not that you go from zero to 100, you have steps to go to it," the midfielder said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

"It's not easy when you feel you are ready to play, but you get 15, then maybe 40 then maybe 60. As a player it's hard to understand but we have to accept it as our body is the main thing we use in a game. I'm not at the level [of fitness] I was at the start of the season."

The injury troubles are hopefully behind Szoboszlai, who started against Manchester City last weekend.
