Richard Hughes to become Liverpool sporting director — Romano

Michael Edwards has agreed to return to Liverpool as the head of football operations, it's been reported earlier today.

It was claimed that the Englishman's first step would be to appoint Richard Hughes as sporting director. Fabrizio Romano says the deal is done with the 44-year-old.

"Richard Hughes has already an agreement in place to join Liverpool, it will happen at the end of the season," Romano tweeted.

"After excellent job at Bournemouth with CEO Neill Blake, he’s gonna leave at the end of the season to sign for Liverpool. He’s part of Michael Edwards plan."
