'Unwritten rule': Carragher says he 'can see' why Liverpool wasn't given penalty on Doku

Jeremy Doku kicked Alexis Mac Allister in the chest with his studs showing late in the Liverpool v Man City game.

The referee decided against awarding the Reds a penalty after a VAR review. Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp said that 'every football person' would agree that it was a penalty.

However, Jamie Carragher says he can see why it wasn't given.

"Jeremy Doku is almost trying to pull his foot away, he doesn’t go right through with it," the former Liverpool defender said on Sky Sports.

"Anywhere else on the pitch and it's a foul, I almost think there is an unwritten rule in football that it has to be a bit more [physical] for a penalty - it's lucky, but I can see why they have not given it."
