Klopp backs Endo to stay at Liverpool beyond 2027: 'He might be 31 but he's a machine'

"I've said it a couple of times, we were lucky, we bring him in and I am pretty sure in three or four years Wataru will sign another long-term contract at Liverpool because he might be 30 or 31 but he is a machine," Jurgen Klopp said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

"Football wise exceptional, defensive brain outstanding, gives us a lot of understanding for a lot of things. Top development. It's just very helpful. Very helpful."

The Japan international's current deal expires in 2027. He'd be 34 when his current deal runs out.

The midfielder joined Liverpool in the summer of 2023 on a reported €18m (£15.4m) fee from Stuttgart. The move initially raised a lot of eyebrows but Endo has proven his doubters wrong, showing that he's one of the best holding midfielders in the world with a string of 10/10 displays.

Wataru was everywhere in the League Cup final win against Chelsea and is deservedly lauded as one of the Reds' heroes in a dramatic 1-0 victory.
