Ivory Coast clinched the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations title with a thrilling 2-1 win over Nigeria in the final on Sunday (February 11).
They came back from being 1-0 down, scoring two second-half goals from Franck Kessie and ex-West Ham United forward Sebastien Haller to win it.
However, it seems that the player who assisted both goals – Simon Adingra – has attracted the interest of some Liverpool supporters.
Adingra, who currently plays for Brighton, was named as the Player of the Match for the final after a clinical performance. Here are his stats from the AFCON final:
9 duels won, most in match
6 chances created, most in match
5 dribbles completed, most in match
2 assists
He can operate in both wings and has five goal contributions in 17 Premier League appearances this season.
Some Liverpool fans are urging the club to try and make a move for him in the summer window after signing Alexis Mac Allister from the Seagulls last year, as they wrote on Twitter.
Bk8iP3: “Adingra’s been class the whole tournament, I’ve been saying I wouldn’t mind if Liverpool sniped him.”
Filly: “Adingra btw. Would love Liverpool to get him.”
YLFC: “Idc. Bring Simon Adingra to Liverpool. What a baller.”
Nabhuto: “Simon Adingra… I want you at Liverpool. @LFC sign him.”
E_Wright17: “Yeah NEEED Adingra in Liverpool red.”
