Liverpool fans were livid that Bournemouth winger Justin Kluivert faced no punishment for standing on Luis Diaz's shin with his studs — especially since Curtis Jones was sent off against Tottenham earlier this season for a similar challenge.

However, those incidents do not appear similar to PGMOL.

According to James Pearce, PGMOL confirmed that VAR did check the foul and deemed it not to be a dangerous challenge.

Such phrasing is unlikely to raise the referees' credibility in the eyes of the Liverpool fans. Neither will any apology that could come their way a month later.
