Are any Liverpool loanees doing well?

Liverpool currently has over 10 players on loan at other clubs working on developing their skills and improving themselves.

However, most of them are youth team players and only a handful of senior team members have been loaned out to gain experience somewhere else until the end of the season.

Here we look at how the four senior Liverpool players have performed in their loan spells so far.

Fabio Carvalho was sent out on loan at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer window in the hope that their free-flowing attacking football will suit his skills. However, the Portuguese midfielder failed to impress and was unable to get a goal contribution in 15 appearances, the majority of which came as a substitute.

He has since been called back and loaned out to Hull City, for whom he’s only made one appearance so far. It’s safe to say that if Carvalho wants chances at Liverpool next season, he’s got to do much, much better in this loan stint.

Verdict: Needs to do better

Morton has become a regular in his loan spell at Championship club Hull City, who are fighting hard for a place in the Championship playoff spots. The young midfielder has made 21 appearances in the league for Hull, scoring three goals and providing as many assists.

He has excelled in deeper midfield roles, controlling games from deeper areas and also getting involved in goals quite often. The 21-year-old will keep pushing on to help Hull get promoted to the Premier League and prove he can hang with the best at Liverpool.

Verdict: Developing really well

The young Scottish full-back is on loan at Championship side Preston North End, but has struggled to break into the first team. He has only made two appearances for them so far in the Championship, with his last appearance coming in early December. He has also struggled with a knee injury and illness, causing him to drop down the pecking order at the club.

Verdict: Poor

Van den Berg has become a regular for Bundesliga side Mainz and only missed one single league game for them this season. He has produced a few impressive performances, helping them keep three clean sheets in the game and even scoring in a recent 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund.

He has been a bit overly aggressive at times and picked up six yellow cards in 16 league games, but is developing into a sturdy centre-back and benefitting from the experience of playing in frantic Bundesliga games.

Verdict: Developing really well
