In a recent interview with France Football, Virgil van Dijk opened up about the skill of his Liverpool teammate.
When asked which trait of a teammate he'd love to have, the Reds' captain took a moment to think. After some consideration, he revealed that he's envious of Joel Matip's dribbling.
Quoted by Lequipe, Van Dijk said: "Not easy [to pick one]. Maybe Joel Matip's dribbling. He loves dribbling from the back.
"He goes there, he's not afraid, he's not there saying to himself: 'If I do that, we might lose the ball.' It's a very nice quality, I would love to be able to do that."
Matip's standout trait is undeniably what sets him apart as a top-class centre-back. He picks up the ball from deep, effortlessly drifting through opponents. His skill forces them to ditch their positions just to challenge him.
