Liverpool are set to open discussions with director of football Jorg Schmadtke in the next few months regarding a potential extension of his Anfield contract.

According to Christian Falk of SportBILD, Jurgen Klopp has confidence in the 'transfer expert' and wants to keep working with his compatriot in the long term.

Schmadtke joined on a short-term deal to oversee a summer rebuild, signing Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberchnd and Wataru Endo.

While the 59-year-old may not be keen on extending his stay at Anfield, Liverpool are reportedly satisfied with his work and want his continued involvement.
