Liverpool U16s walk out of game after young Red suffers racist abuse

A Next Generation Trophy game between Liverpool and Juventus U16 teams has been abandoned, the Guardian report.

The Reds walked off in protest after one of their players suffered racial abuse, with a Juventus player being the perpetrator.

The Italian side offered an apology to Liverpool and the player subjected to abuse. They suspended the perpetrator and sent him on an anti-discrimination course.

Liverpool say that the young Red who was abused is 'receiving the full support of the club'. RB Salzburg, who organise the tournament, have also offered an apology to the player and the club.

The young Reds then continued to play in the tournament, taking a knee before the Indipendiente game. They were joined by the players from the Argentinian side.
