Mohamed Salah scored for Egypt in the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi on Friday night.
The goal saw the Egyptian tally 50 goals for his country in just 87 caps. The 30-year-old needs just 19 more goals to beat the record set by Hossam Hassan who played 176 matches for Egypt.
Salah captained Egypt against Malawi and scored the opener after just 20 minutes. He assisted the second goal in first half added time to help the Pharaohs secure a 2-0 win.
Salah and Egypt will face Malawi again on Tuesday before he heads back to continue the season with Liverpool.
This has been a topsy-turvy season for Salah with Liverpool struggling to maintain consistency. But Salah's goal tally reads differently. He currently has 22 goals and 11 assists in 39 games for the Reds.
