"There was nothing in that [incident from 2021]," Dyche explained in his press conference ahead of the game at Anfield on Monday night. 

"He felt my coat wasn't good like John McGinn did, and he mentioned it. And I say 'Well, you weren't the first to get there. John's already referenced my coat'. That one cleared that up.

"Look, I think fans don't mind that. They want to see two managers fight for their teams, for their clubs, standing up.

"After the game, it's gone, for me, it's done. That's it. End of.

"That used to be a more regular occurrence in football. Maybe not so much now. It used to be nothing [but] it makes a story," the Everton boss said. 

 1-0 in that game and Dyche would be hoping for more of the same when his Everton team faces Liverpool on Monday. However, Everton remains the underdogs despite Liverpool's stuttering form in 2023.

The Merseyside derby is always a heated contest despite 

 having the upper hand per recent history. 

"They are a very compact side, very good in counter-attacking really and set-pieces will be very dangerous for us and a very important subject definitely," Klopp said. 

"That’s the team, you could see that in the last game, it was good, a really good game. They had a lot of the game in their moments. 

"Of course Arsenal were dominant, that’s clear, but in the end Everton had really good chances before they scored already and the goal came from a set-piece; that’s how they scored in the end but they could have scored in other moments as well. 

"So we prepare for the team we saw against Arsenal, that makes sense. And because they are longer together now, all the patterns can be all a bit clearer for everybody. 

"But the difference is it’s not there, it’s here – so we have to make sure that is clear and will be clear in the game as well," the gaffer added. 

Liverpool must rekindle the form they showed between November 6 and December 30 when they won four league games on the trot. They've lost three and drawn one of their first four league games of 2023. 

'Focus is there, intensity is there': Klopp on positive signs he saw in training last week

 told a press conference when asked if he saw positive signs in 

"ll the signs are there, but when I say that now, I know people will sit at home, watch this and say, ‘Yeah, but show it on Monday.’ We see it exactly the same: we have to show it on Monday. 

"Training was so far really good and will be, everything is in the right direction. That’s true. 

"Aggression is there, determination is there, readiness is there, concentration is there, focus is there, intensity is there. So far, a really good week."

Liverpool are preparing for the Merseyside derby now, so it would've been very surprising - and concerning - if Klopp told the press that there was no focus from the Reds in training.

That said, even the boss points out that the most important thing will be to show it in the game on Monday.

I agree, Red.  Horses for courses.  When Klopp is conducting official business, then you would expect him to be booted and suited.  Match day is different.  He needs to show he's part of the team, less the shorts, obviously.  Tracksuit trackies and a warm coat should be the attire for the gaffers.
