Didier Deschamps decided to bench Ibrahima Konate for the World Cup final against Argentina. The Liverpool defender had a great game against Morocco in the semi-finals but Upamecano was still picked over him in the final.
Ibou was brought on in the second half of the extra time after Raphael Varane picked up an injury. The 23-year-old had an instant impact, winning the corner that led to France's third goal. He could also had an assist for a potential game-winning goal but Randal Kolo Muani failed to score from his pass.
So considering the impact Konate had in just a few minutes, many Liverpool fans think France would have won had Ibou started the game.
