'There is extra pressure': Diogo Jota outlines Portugal's ambitions for Euros

"I think there is no extra pressure, but a huge pride for what we achieved in 2016," Jota said in a press conference held ahead of Portugal's opening game.

"Being champions of Europe makes everyone proud. Of course, the opponents are aware and really want to defeat the current champions, and [our first opponents] Hungary will play at home.

"It is an extra motivation with fans in the stadium, something that we are not used to anymore, especially in the last season.

"So we know the difficulties that this causes and we have to overcome it all.

"It is important to start with a win."

With Portugal in the proverbial 'Group of Death' alongside France and Germany, they have an excellent opportunity to get some early points with a win over Hungary.

Jota, who scored 13 goals for Liverpool in just 18 starts in his debut campaign will be hoping to carry his explosive form into the Euros and and help them retain their title.
