Pep Guardiola had a really sarcastic reaction when told about how Man City have already qualified for the 2024/25 Champions League campaign.
Reacting to it, he remarked: “WOW! I'm going to celebrate it tomorrow! My CEO and our owner will be sooooo happy for next season we will be in the Champions League. I'm sure many teams would love to be in that position. It's a very, really good news..”
Considering that Man City have qualified for every Champions League edition since the 2010/11 season, this isn’t that big of an achievement that Pep is trying to deem it as.
The Cityzens were, of course, eliminated from the competition earlier this season by Real Madrid in the quarter-final, losing the second leg on penalties.
Man City are still, however, in line to finish the 2023/24 season with a potential domestic double as they sit one point behind Premier League leaders Arsenal (with a game in hand) and face off against Man United in the FA Cup final.
