Alexander Isak breaks Zlatan Ibrahimovic's record in Sheffield United game

Alexander Isak has broken the record for most goals by a Swedish player in a Premier League season. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 17 in 2016/17 and Isak is on 19 for this season.

In a recent match against Sheffield, his skilful run and precise finish helped Newcastle equalize to 1-1 before halftime. Later, Isak secured victory with a calm penalty, sealing Sheffield United's fate in a 5-1 defeat.

With this performance, Isak is now just one goal behind Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League's top-scorer title.

After the game, he said: "I am very happy. It was important for us to stay in the race for Europe. We got off to quite a bad start and needed one goal against us to wake up. The reaction was very good. The manager gave us a wake-up call at half-time."

"Many of my penalties have been here at home. I tried to stay calm and focus on the moment. I was thinking I want a hat-trick. I haven’t had one [yet]. Europe is still alive. We have to focus on ourselves and we will see how it goes."
