German demands instant government's reaction to 'epidemic' gambling addiction growth

Germany's Ministry of Healthcare (BMG) has revealed shocking numbers of gambling addiction growth in the country.

According to the BMG's latest report, the number of adults struggling with gambling addiction has grown more than three times within five years and reached 1.3 million.

That means, around 8% of German citizens aged 18-70 are gambling addicts. The head of BMG, Karl Lauterbach, has branded the tendency 'epidemic' and demanded the authorities to react immediately.

However, the German Sports Betting Association (DSWV) doesn't share BMG's point of view. According to reports, DSWV believes that BMG's research was conducted with significant mistakes and was initially aimed at lay the foundation for further restrictions for betting and gambling operators.
