The most decorated club in the history of MLS ruined the previous season. The California outfit finished 13th in the West Conference, with just 36 points gained in 34 games, and naturally failed to get to the playoffs.
The club didn't sack head coach Greg Vanney but parted ways with Mexican legend Chicharito and winger Tyler Boyd. Instead, they brought in Brazilian winger Gabriel Pec and midfielder Joseph Paintsill. However, the latter is unlikely to feature tomorrow because he arrived with an injury.
Inter Miami
Unlike Galaxy, Inter Miami have already launched their MLS campaign: they beat Real Salt Lake 2-0 in the season opener. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez provided two assists in that game.
On paper, it's a fine start and a perfect proof why bookies were right to tip Messi & Co. to the league triumph this season. However, Miami's display was far from perfect and their opponents from Utah had enough chances to at least equalise.
In Los Angeles, the visitors will be missing Facundo Farias, Ian Fray, Franco Negri and Benjamin Cremaschi (all injured).
