Stoke City fan claims Leo Messi would score less in Championship than in Premier League

Leo Messi has never played in the Premier League, which still makes some fans question the credibility of the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. But one supporter has taken it further - Stokeyy G, a well-known Twitter user and a Stoke City fan, claims Messi would struggle in the Championship.

@StokeyyG2: "Having a debate with a few people and they don’t agree with me but. If a player like Messi (who has never played a proper season in England) came to England for one season, he’d score less goals in the Championship than the Premier League because it’s a harder game to adapt to.

"He’d be used to that fast paced, same creative movement play in the Premier League. In the Championship, it’s different. He’d be taken out by most decent sides in the first 30 and would struggle with the physical nature and this ain’t Messi slander, he still the goat."

It seems like the only way of knowing would be to put Leo Messi into Luton Town's squad and see if he can save them from relegation. And if he doesn't, see if he performs in the Championship. How fitting it is that we've already imagined what Luton Town would be like with the Argentinian.
