Guglielmo Vicario, with the highest save percentage and most clean sheets in the Premier League, is making waves at Tottenham after a £17 million transfer from Empoli. His impressive start has turned heads, especially in Italy where clubs initially overlooked him.
Vicario's journey is also a unique one, as he made his Serie A debut at 24 and solidified his starting role at Empoli a year later. Now, with only eight goals conceded in nine games and an 84% save rate, he outshines many Premier League counterparts.
Many argue Vicario is now one of Europe's top five goalkeepers. However, despite his great performance at Tottenham, for some reason, Vicario is a peripheral figure for Italy, remaining the third-choice goalkeeper.
Tottenham goalkeeper had his first call-up last year, however, he's yet to make his international debut.
