A couple of years ago, the mere thought of Kylian Mbappe playing at St James's Park would have made you question your sanity and the only way for Mbappe to land at Newcastle's home ground was by virtue of a computer game.
Antoine Griezmann did it.
Griezmann is an avid Football Manager fan and spends a lot of time playing the game, for example during flights.
In 2021, Griezmann boasted his FM record with Newcastle: five trophies in a single season, including the Champions League and the Premier League.
"What a coach," said Griezmann before telling Mbappe he bought him for his Newcastle for €134m.
Mbappe gave Griezmann a weird look before asking: "Newcastle, where? It's not very warm there eh?".
One thing is for sure - in 2023, Kylian Mbappe knows where Newcastle is on the map.
