Paul Pogba recently shared a photo on Instagram that has captured the joyous moment of Benjamin Mendy after he was cleared of rape charges.
Mendy, a former Manchester City defender, had been accused of raping one woman in 2020 and attempting to rape another woman in 2018. However, the 28-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges.
After the jurors deliberated on the case, they returned with not guilty verdicts after approximately four hours. Emotionally overwhelmed, Mendy was released from the dock. As he left Chester Crown Court, he was met by a crowd of media reporters.
One of Mendy's first calls was to his friend and international teammate, Paul Pogba. Pogba shared a screenshot of their FaceTime conversation on Instagram. The image displays Mendy's smiling face with Pogba in the corner.
Accompanying the picture was a message from Pogba expressing his happiness for Mendy and his faith in his friend's innocence. Pogba wrote, "Al Hamdullilah, so happy for you bro...all the people that were talking bad about you now, I wanna see them cleaning your name. Can't wait to see you on the pitch again."
