FIFA have not banned Russia from World Cup qualifiers - game against Poland could take place in June

FIFA have not actually banned or eliminated the Russian national team from the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers yet, despite having indicated they’ve banished the country.

Currently, UEFA’s website shows the World Cup qualifying play-off between Russia and Poland – scheduled to take place on 24 March – is only postponed and not abandoned.

Poland have not been given a walkover win yet and FIFA’s site also shows the game is only postponed.

FIFA are reportedly planning to have this qualifier played in June and hoping that the war between Russia and Ukraine ends by then.

Poland have already confirmed that they won’t play any game against Russia in the future, so it remains to be seen what FIFA does about that.
