Joan Laporta avoiding face-to-face meeting with Xavi — date for final decision set

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been avoiding a face-to-face meeting with Xavi since the game against Almeria, Catalunya Radio reveals.

Xavi was congratulated via a phone call for beating Almeria on Thursday, but the coach wanted a meeting with the president to clarify the sack rumours. Laporta declined.

The source claims Laporta will only sit down with Xavi at the end of the season to reveal his final decision. That meeting will probably end with Xavi being fired.

Barely three weeks ago, Laporta was close to tears as he confirmed during a press conference that Xavi will continue as coach next season.

"Barca fans should be very proud of this man," Laporta said pointing to Xavi.

Things have changed quickly since, with so much uncertainty now surrounding the club's future.
