Guido Rodriguez will be Barca's first signing in 2024, Diario Sport reveals.
The Spanish midfielder is coming in to replace Oriol Romeu who is expected to leave Barca at the end of the season.
Rodriguez is an all-action midfielder who has caught the eye at Real Betis this season. Besides his profile, Barca are also attracted to his availability as a free agent.
Xavi has insisted that Barca go all out for midfield signings in the summer. The tactician seems to have the full support of Barcelona president Joan Laporta. But it was sporting director Deco who moved quickly to bring in a player like Rodriguez, convincing him back in November.
However, the 30-year-old is only expected to be a squad player at Barca next season just like Romeu, but Barca sees him as an upgrade on his predecessor.
Rodriguez scored two goals and one assist in his 27 appearances for Betis this season.
