There's some euphoria at Barca with Xavi set to officially announce he is staying on as coach for one more year.
However, according to Relevo, the club are taking some big risks by sticking with Xavi instead of letting him go in peace.
Here's what those risks look like.
1. They could sack him mid-season. "With me as president, there are no transition seasons. Before, if you lost, nothing happened, but with me losing will have consequences," Joan Laporta said. That tells you Barca could pull the plug on Xavi midway through next season if the team goes on a bad run.
2. His relationship with Deco. Relevo sources say Xavi and Deco don't have the best relationship regardless of what they say to the media. Barca are risking a toxic working environment between coach and sporting director which often reflects badly on team performance.
3. The disapproval from board members. Some Barca board members are firmly against Xavi's stay. According to RAC1 they may even resign their roles over Laporta's decision to stick with Xavi. It shows how divided Xavi has made Barca.
4. Nothing has changed. Xavi announced he was leaving back in January after a 5-3 defeat at home to Villarreal. Fast forward to April, Barca have lost La Liga and are out of the Champions League. Relevo says nothing has really changed or improved at Barca with Xavi since last season. Barca are only hoping against hope that things will get better next term.
