Frenkie De Jong is now a top target for Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sport's Florian Plettenberg.
Bayern have been monitoring the Dutchman for some time. It is said that the Bavarians consider him a solution to their lingering challenge in central midfield.
However, Bayern may be tempted to abandon their interest in the 26-year-old over his 'extremely' high salary.
De Jong is the highest-paid player at Barca with a €16m net salary per season. Barcelona also owes the player around €20m in deferred wages.
Barca are pushing to get De Jong to sign a contract extension to allow them to amortize his wages but that discussion will only be had at the end of the season.
De Jong could reportedly fetch Barca between €60-80m if they decide to sell him in the next transfer window.
