Barca planning to 'offload' Mikayil Faye using Nico Gonzalez method

Nico Gonzalez burst through La Masia to the Barca senior team in 2021. He came across as a midfielder who was the perfect blend of Sergio Busquets and Frenkie De Jong. The problem was that both players were still at Barca and the club decided to ship him off. First on loan to Valencia and then a permanent sale to FC Porto.

But when selling Nico to Porto for €8.4m, Barca still rated the Spaniard enough to insert a €15m buy-back clause on his contract. According to Diario Sport, Barca are thinking of doing exactly the same thing with Mikayil 'The Monster' Faye.

Faye has scored five goals in his last seven games for club and country with his market value going through the roof. It's why Barca knows they cannot keep Faye with Barca Athletic next season.

However, the Senegalese youngster has only managed two first-team call-ups this season and is yet to make an appearance in a competitive match under Xavi.

Barca have chosen Pau Cubarsi as the youngster to bank on with the first team with Faye to continue on the fringes as there are other quality centre-backs to choose from.

Thus, Faye is likely to be loaned out in the summer, as Barca did with Nico in 2022 or sold at a good price with a buy-back clause inserted. That was Nico's case last summer.
