Jamal Musiala reacts to Leo Messi voting for him in Kopa Trophy

Leo Messi voted for Bayern's Jamal Musiala as his first-choice option for the 2023 Kopa Trophy – one of the most prestigious individual awards given to the best U21 player.

The 21-year-old has opened up on the Argentine's pick.

"I thought that was a big honour. Messi was always my role model when I was a child. I always watched his games and admired him for his style of play," he told TZ.

Messi chose Musiala ahead of Pedri and Jude Bellingham in his top three. The latter ended up winning the accolade.

Jamal Musiala is Bayern's brightest talent right now. The attacking midfielder has scored 10 goals and delivered six assists in 30 appearances for Thomas Tuchel's side this season.
