Xavi Simons was on the verge of tears after sharing the spoils with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, 1-1.
The Dutchman was one of the best players on the pitch, having created four chances. He also drew four fouls and won the majority of his duels.
Simons' post-match reaction is understandable: RB Leipzig looked better than Real Madrid throughout the game but missed too many great chances to score. Carlo Ancelotti's side won the first leg 1-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals.
The 20-year-old is having a superb season with the Red Bulls, scoring eight goals and delivering 12 assists in 34 games for the Bundesliga side. He is on loan from Paris Saint-Germain and the French side reportedly bet on the attacking midfielder next season.
Xavi Simons was part of the Barcelona academy from 2010 to 2019 before joining PSG for free.
