Barca could sell last summer's signing amid registration issues (reliability: 4 stars)

Inigo Martinez could leave Barcelona this summer, according to RAC1's Marta Ramon.

Barca see the Spaniard's registration as a problem. Although the player has one more year left on his current deal with Blaugrana, the club have to register him as if he were the new signing. Barca didn't have enough space in the wage bill when they were signing the 32-year-old, so they agreed with La Liga to only take his first season into account.

Barcelona also believe they will have too many centre-backs on relatively high wages in their squad this summer. Inigo Martinez is said to be eighth on the list of Barca's highest-paid players, on level with Pedri and ahead of players like Ronald Araujo, Gavi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

When Barca's loanees come back, the Catalans' centre-back options will include Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Andreas Christensen, Chadi Riad, Eric Garcia and Clement Lenglet. The latter two are likely to leave the club this summer.

Inigo Martinez has made 16 appearances for Barcelona. He has been a consistently solid performer this season.
