Injuries aside, Xavi made some interesting substitutions against Athletic Bilbao. With Barca searching for a late winner, Xavi decided to sub on Inigo Martinez and Oriol Romeu leaving strikers like Marc Guiu and Vitor Roque to wallow on the bench.
ESPN journalist Jordi Blanco wonders why in his biggest question for Xavi.
"Someone should ask Xavi why, if he needed to win at all costs, he subbed in Inigo for Cubarsí and not Vitor Roque or Marc Guiu," Blanco tweeted.
With Real Madrid and Girona dropping points earlier Barca had a big opportunity to close the gap in the title race. They could've even moved into second place.
However, they failed to win against a depleted Bilbao side who had to play seven fringe players on the night due to injuries and suspension.
