Dani Alves' ex-wife reacts to Barca restoring Brazilian's legend status with biblical quote

"Render to Caesar what is Caesar's," Dani Alves' ex-wife, Joana Sanz, wrote on Instagram, pinning a pic of her ex-husband wearing the Barca shirt.

The phrase comes from the New Testament of the Christian Bible, particularly from the Gospel of Matthew. The full quote sounds as follows: "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."

Clearly, Joana agrees that Dani's sporting achievements should be recognised no matter what he did in his private life.

Barcelona temporarily removed Dani Alves from their 'legends' list after the 40-year-old was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for sexual assault. After a while, the club restored the player's noble status.

Joana Sanz announced divorce shortly after the Brazilian was taken into custody. The player was asking her for forgiveness afterwards, writing a few letters in which he also expressed his full support for Joana.
