Barcelona have shortlisted David De Dea among the possible replacements for Inaki Pena in the summer, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Another goalie carefully being observed by Barca is Almeria's Luís Maximiano. The Portuguese shot-stopper is currently on loan from SS Lazio.
Barca's technical management are studying whether to sell Pena at the end of the season or let him leave. It's no secret that the club were not convinced by Pena's performances during the three months he replaced Ter Stegen.
The 25-year-old Spanish goalie conceded 32 goals in that period and only recorded three clean sheets. Thus, there was no question about him returning to the bench as soon as Ter Stegen was fit to play.
However, Barca's choices, if true, leave us with more questions than answers. De Gea is a free agent but he's been unemployed since being released by Manchester United last summer.
Meanwhile, Maximiano, who is the same age as Pena, has conceded 45 goals in La Liga this season while recording just four clean sheets. Although he plays for a team who are bottom of the league and concede roughly 2 goals per game.
