According to Mundo Deportivo, Rafa Maquez's latest actions have infuriated the Barca chiefs but it has nothing to do with his work as a Barcelona Atletic boss.
The reason why the board got mad was Rafa's recent posts on social media that promoted the bookmaking company Apuesta Gana. Marquez posted a photo of himself dressed in a shirt with the bookie's logo on it. He also urged fans to register with Apuesta Gana to win a signed shirt.
Four days after he made the initial post on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), Marquez promoted the betting brand again, this time via Instagram Stories.
The club has handed the matter over to its compliance department, as they believe there might be a conflict of interest.
Later, Marquez deleted all controversial posts. He will hardly face any sanctions, it's more likely that the club lawyers will come up with adjustments in rules and contracts to prevent players, coaches and staff members from taking part in promoting betting and gambling.
