"These things happen many times," Xavi said in his press conference addressing his critics.
"At this club, we always value people when they start to leave. Now [they admire] the work of Valverde, or Koeman, or Busquets is valued. Now he is missed when in four years he has been massacred. Or Jordi Alba.
"It is something to reflect on. I hope you miss me. I value being in the best club in the world, coming to work every day.
"For me it is Barca's historical mistake, which we value later. No, no, let's evaluate now,” Xavi said.
Xavi is not wrong. Barca critics turn to their own vomit when the protagonist leaves. An example is Ernesto Valverde who has been hailed as a more mature and experienced manager than Xavi following Barca's defeat in the Copa Del Rey. But Barca fired him in the first place.
Xavi has come under intense scrutiny with his Barcelona side falling out of contention in two of the four trophies they planned to win this season.
