Frenkie de Jong has praised Xavi’s decision to add more numbers to Barcelona’s midfield which helped them seal the 2-0 win over Osasuna.
After he spoke about that and the upcoming Real Madrid clash, saying: “It had been a long time since we won by more than one goal. In the end, it’s about winning and playing well. We played a serious game, the first half not so good but the second half better.
“It was difficult to find spaces because they closed very well, in the middle there was very little space and we needed more mobility and also creativity. I think the changes have helped us with that, yes.
“We have to improve, we are improving. It is a fairly new team, with many changes and you always need time to get used to your teammates. Also many injuries and we are in this process. A final with Madrid is very nice.
“There are two days, more than enough. We don’t have to travel, nor have we played extra time. We will be prepared.”
De Jong won the Player of the Match award for helping control the game against Osasuna, as he aims to replicate his heroics in the upcoming El Clasico clash.
