Julian Alvarez idolised Leo Messi before eventually playing with him for Argentina. But it doesn't seem like the young striker is keen on following his role model's career path by playing for Barcelona.
“The truth is I'm very happy at Manchester City," Alvarez said when asked about possibly playing for Barca or Real Madrid.
"I've been at the club [Man City] for a little more than a year. I feel very happy with everything we've achieved.
"From the first moment, they've helped me a lot. I've grown a lot as a player, as a person, so I'm happy at the club,” Alvarez added.
Alvarez is highly rated by Guardiola which would make any potential transfer even more difficult.
Barcelona will be less concerned about what Alvarez thinks of playing for them. The Blaugrana dug for their next gem in Brazil and found Vitor Roque last summer. The 18-year-old striker is expected to arrive in Catalonia in the coming days.
