Manchester City are advancing to the final stages of the deal to sign Claudio Echeverri, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The idea is to sign the Argentine and loan him back to River Plate. Man City would pay over €20m for the wonderkid whose current deal expires next December.
Barcelona were said to be very interested in signing the 17-year-old. However, their first bid was rejected as River didn't want the payment to be made in add-ons. Barca can't afford to pay the player's €25m release clause at the moment.
Echeverri has recently announced he won't be extending his contract with River Plate. Man City seemingly decided to act straight away.
Claudio Echeverri is an Argentine supertalent who has enjoyed a memorable campaign at the U17 World Cup. His stats for Argentina's youth side are something else – 13 goals and 5 assists in 22 games for the U17 team.
