UEFA boss Ceferin reacts to Super League ruling, sends message to Perez and Laporta

In the aftermath of the Super League ruling, UEFA boss Aleksander Ceferin addressed the media, strongly reacting to the decision. European Court of Justice's ruling significantly restricted FIFA and UEFA's authority, prohibiting them from banning or penalizing clubs and players participating in tournaments beyond their jurisdiction.

A22, the company behind the ESL project, presented a new format of the competition on Thursday, which Ceferin didn't particularly liked it.

"I watched the so-called presentation of A22. It’s hard to decide if you should be shocked or amused by the show.

"We will not try to stop them. They can create whatever they want. I hope they start their fantastic competition as soon as possible...with two clubs. I hope they know what they are doing, though I am not so sure about that.

"Football is not for sale," Ceferin concluded.

The two clubs in question are Barcelona and Real Madrid, so that's a message directed at Joan Laporta and Florentino Perez. As a reminder, La Liga giants are the only two clubs still formally involved in the competition.
