Xavi told 'end has begun' to his time at Barcelona

Barcelona suffered a 3-2 defeat to Antwerp in Belgium in the final group stage game in the Champions League. The result doesn't mean anything as the Catalans finished first in the group anyway, but the team's performance was extremely poor.

And now Spanish journalists are saying that Xavi could face the sack sooner or later, with the team clearly in crisis.

"Sportingly, the team had nothing at stake, but at the image level, a lot. On an economic level, the club has failed to earn €5.6m," Cadena SER journalist Sique Rodríguez wrote after the game.

"My feeling is that the end of Xavi at Barça has begun."

Diario Sport's Joan Vehils said: "Either Xavi makes drastic decisions or Laporta will have to make them... This team has a serious problem and it seems that Xavi has not detected it."

And Gerard Romero added on his stream: "This is the most critical moment of Xavi's coaching career... Difficult days are coming."

Barca find themselves fourth in La Liga table, seven points behind leaders Girona after losing to their Catalan rivals on Sunday.
