Inaki Pena decided to show up for training on Wednesday despite Xavi giving his team the day off, reports Roger Torrello of Mundo Deportivo.
The young goalkeeper is now an undisputed starter with Ter Stegen out injured for 2-3 months but he continues to work towards improving himself.
Pena is said to be one of the most committed players in training and is fighting to grab the opportunity presented to him with both hands.
The Spanish goalie has stood between the sticks for three Barca matches since Ter Stegen got injured, he conceded twice and kept a clean sheet in those games as Barca won two and drew one.
Barcelona are up against Girona on Sunday and it's a chance to see what Pena brings to the table when he's tested by Girona's ruthless attack.
