The only trophy Leo Messi failed to win in his career - Xavi Simons has to do with it

Lionel Messi's rule of thumb has been 'you challenge for a title, you win it'. La Liga or Ligue 1, Champions League or World Cup - it never mattered. The only exception was Coupe de France, which Leo failed to win during his PSG days.

Messi played the entire game that ended in a goalless draw. In the penalty shootout, the Argentinean was the first PSG player to take a spot-kick: he didn't miss.

Neither did Kylian Mbappe, who was the second. The goalkeeper saved Leandro Paredes' shot but there was still hope when Xavi Simons stepped in. The former Barca starlet couldn't beat the goalkeeper thus handing the 5-6 win on penalties to Nice.

The French domestic cup remains the only trophy Messi failed to lift while challenging for it, but there's another trophy from his Paris days that he won even after he exited Parc des Princes. It's the Ligue 1 award to the best foreign footballer of the season: Messi was named the winner when he already was playing for Inter Miami.
