Mateu Lahoz reveals what Messi did after World Cup quarterfinal spat with referee - it's classic Leo

Former La Liga referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz has opened up on what happened after the World Cup quarterfinal clash between Argentina and the Netherlands.

The Spanish official handed out 18 yellow cards to the players and coaching staff that day. Well, that was a heated game, to say the least.

As a result of the criticism that rained down on him, Lahoz was sent back to Spain. Lionel Messi was one of many players to speak up against the referee back then.

The Argentine skipper was also seen making harsh remarks to Lahoz during the game.

However, Messi later reached out with an apology, saying, 'Leo Messi called me and apologized for the harsh words he directed at me. He said he wasn't himself," Lahoz told Marca.

Nothing special, just another day of Messi being a humble GOAT.
